January 2010 - Well a new decade and a new look for the website. My thanks to Alex and Charles, my nephews for all their input - they are the family geeks- and to my husband who has put up with me disappearing for hours to play with the website.
10 January - Well its a store cupboard staple Store Cupboard Salmon Fishcakes something easy and simple when you can’t be bothered
17 January - A few tweaks to the site due to some layout problems more recipes coming soon - but just had a knee op so rather difficult to sit too long and type!!
21 January - Still sitting with my knee up, but Tu B’Shevat is approaching so I have posted my Millenium Pie (also known as Tu B’Shevat Pie - its a vegetarian supper dish packed with winter veg, chickpeas and dates - interested. The pastry makes good baked borekas too.
7 February its been a grotty couple of weeks and I have not been doing much cooking or computing as I can’t find a comfortable position for my knee - but its now finally beginning to feel like it belongs to me. So I am now thinking of the approach of Purim and have uploaded Chicken & Chickpea Pilau being my take on a Persian pilaff and that’s were Purim began
15 February - one of my husband’s favourite desserts as its our anniversary Chocolate & Pear (Cherry) Sponge Tart sometimes I use cherries in this - remember to stone them
4 March - an old time Pesach favourite with a twist - carp is a sustainable fish and is fashionable once more so try this as you can make it in advance and it’s also good for Shabbat cold or at the Head of the Year at Rosh Hashannah Baked Stuffed Carp what’s more it also doubles as Baked Gefilte Fish
15 March - Some of you might find my new page on Pesach cans and can’ts useful - I have had some e-mails with queries just click: I have also separated the Recipes suitable for Pesach into their own page and today I have added Roast Beef English Pesach Style
23 March - Mackerel or Halibut + Tangy Orange Sauce - another Pesach adaptation from my youth and good for using up egg yolks! My second recipe is for a little treat - because Pesach sweets are so so expensive and easy to make what’s more they are egg free and parve Simple Apricot Petit Fours
7 April Hope you had a good Pesach - we did apart from going down with my brother’s cold the last few days! One thing I did get reasonably over Pesach chol o mod was Cauliflower and so last night feeling better my Quinoa Cauliflower and Broccoli Bake was made.
2 May - Shavuot approaches the season of dairy foods so here is a wonderful flavour combination Rhubarb & Ginger Cheesecake - and yes I do have Rhubarb in the Garden.
21 May not cookery but garden design from my real profession Garden Design Points for Disability Gardens these have been uploaded as a reference point at the request of some disabled friends who found them useful. And as summer has arrived (I hope) Spicy Quinoa Salad
20 June 2010 - No I have not forgotten the site just life took over - its been exam time at College so to make up here are a couple of nice Summer recipes using one set of ingredients - Broad Bean Pod & Gluten Free Bread Soup - a case of waste not want not and you can use the Broad Beans and Chard leaves as Broad Bean and Chard Salad
6 July 2010 - Well summer has truly arrived - at least until it breaks - here in London UK and I must admit I don’t really want to cook that much in this weather. However the strange thing I do yearn for is a curry and this Chicken & Mushroom Curry fits the bill - I hope you enjoy it. You can also make it with Turkey and I make it with either fresh or cooked chicken - see the recipe.
2 August 2010 Somehow time flies and I am not sure where it goes - work and life overtakes and ... We recently celebrated my other half’s birthday and I kept it simple or at least I thought I did, a good cheese board, interesting easy salads and Party Frittata (Cold Omlette Tortilla) whatever you wish to call it. One of the salads served with it was my quick Courgette & Mint Salad - no my friends who ate it not Cucumber but you can do it with that too
1 September - A quick and easy recipe that can be used duel purpose Apple & Honey Macaroons what is more its got no added fat or eggs so really helpful for some people I hope - I like them for a breakfast nosh too and as its easy to make in advance and fishy why not try my Gluten Free Lox(Smoked Salmon) & Cream Cheese Roulade
